FSMA Compliant 3PL

Dynamic 3PL is fully compliant to the Food Safety Modernization Act (FSMA), which was signed into law on January 4, 2011.

The FSMA ensures safety and security of the food and feed supply to protect human and animal health. The FSMA represents the biggest overhaul of the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) since its inception. The FSMA will have a significant impact on any company that produces, distributes, transports, or sells food in the United States.

Food Safety is in Our DNA

At Dynamic, food safety is in our DNA. Dynamic has three divisions: contract packaging, warehousing, and transportation. In every division, we serve a large number of food companies. Our food customers depend on us to use food safety best practices and stay up to date on the latest regulatory changes.

Dynamic’s 5 Foundations of Food Safety

The Food Safety Modernization Act consists of 7 foundational rules. Dynamic has created their own 5 Foundations of Food Safety to make sure our company continues to be an industry leader in food safety.

Foundation 1 – Culture

The most important aspect of food safety is a culture that protects the end customer from food borne illnesses. Certifications, training and processes mean nothing, if the culture and people within the organization don’t value food safety. The Dynamic management team has created a culture that makes food safety the top priority. Dynamic’s culture encourages continuous improvement, training, risk management, root cause analysis, problem resolution and open communication.

Foundation 2 – Understanding Customer Requirements

The FSMA requires food companies to develop food safety plans using Hazard Analysis Critical Control Point (HACCP) or Hazard Analysis and Risk-Based Preventive Controls (HARPC) formats. For every new food customer, the Dynamic team conducts a rigorous discovery process to understand and document every customer requirement. Once the requirements are fully understood, written processes are developed and the Dynamic team is trained. Per the FSMA, potential hazards are identified for every process step. For every potential hazard, a preventative measure is implemented. All preventative measures are monitored for effectiveness. Our disciplined approach to customer requirements helps us maintain excellent relationships with our food customers.

Foundation 3 – Food Safety Training

One of the keys to meeting and exceeding the FSMA standards is a well-trained workforce. Dynamic has invested early and often on food safety training. Every Dynamic team member who works with our food customers is trained in food safety. Dynamic is a Safe Quality Food (SQF) certified facility and many employees have been trained in the Safe Quality Food (SQF) Program, which closely mirrors the FSMA. Dynamic has implemented a FSMA training program to make sure every employee understands the importance of food safety and FSMA compliance. Dynamic also provides FSMA training to our partners and customers.

Foundation 4 – Choosing the Right Partners

As a 3PL, Dynamic excels at procuring trucks, planes, and ships for our customers. We know that we are only as good as our carrier partners, so Dynamic has revised our procurement process to confirm that we have the FSMA compliant carrier partners to support our customers. Dynamic is also working with our existing carriers to help them become FSMA compliant.

Foundation 5 – Strategic Technology Investments

Dynamic believes that technology is an important enabler to food safety. Technology can enable processes, data collection, and monitoring while making the work easier for our employees. Dynamic has made strategic investments in technologies that have greatly improved our food safety capability. In 2015, Dynamic invested in a clean room that greatly minimizes airborne pollutants and allergens from the air. In 2016, Dynamic invested in software that will greatly enhance our ability to collect data and identify potential issues before they reach the customer. These are just a few of the many investments Dynamic has made in the past few years. Dynamic 3PL is constantly reviewing new technologies that will help them better serve their food grade customers.
